The Scrap Review!

I found out about this new site via Noel Culbertson's blog and am looking forward to it's launch next week.

Every day reviews by every day scrappers. That's good stuff.

Thank You Cards-- DONE.

My second grader will be participating in the American Heart Association's "Jump Rope for Heart" this week. She'll be jumping rope for three hours. I think I'd have a heart attack.

Rather than helping her work on some jump roping skills, I offered to help with something a little more up my alley... she needs thank you cards for her sponsors!

I pulled out the supplies, and before I knew it, she'd created some very clever and appropriate cards that are as cute as Sadie-Bug. I was quite impressed with my sweet 8 year old!

Off to jump rope practice...

My FAVE Photo

Jessica Sprague challenged us: What is one of your very FAVORITE photos of a person that you’ve ever taken? Post it!

I didn't take this photo, but I've scrapped it. (Does that count?) Denise, a friend of the family, was watching my girls one morning and snapped this photo while my girls and her two children were playing with bubbles. I think it's absolutely AMAZING. I've titled my layout of this photo "Pure Joy".

I'm not posting my layout (it's old and a good candidate for a makeover), plus I want to play with the photo in Photoshop to take some of the distractions out of the background (WHICH makes me a GREAT candidate to win the free tuition for the JS Photo Editing Class!).

Am I biased that these are my kids? Or do you really think it's a fabulous photo?

Approaching the top of the hill...

35. Now closer to 40 than 30.

Yesterday was a great birthday though! I got to enjoy a rare dinner out with just my hubby-- what a treat! We went down Memory Lane and headed to Gambinos in Moscow.

In my college days it was a dive of a joint that was really only good for its FISHBOWLS (large glass punchbowls that hold beer)... and it was conveniently located just a block from my apartment at the time. :) Thankfully, it's been upgraded in my adulthood to a great italian restaurant at the same location. Yummy! Even had cheesecake with huckleberry topping for dessert. (And a shout out to my birthday buddy Katie who should have been here to join me for a reminiscent visit to Gambinos! Happy bday to you too!)

And, only on a birthday... when I got home the kids were in bed but my parents who were there watching the kids (thanks, mom and dad!)had gotten a cake for me... so I let the kids get back up to eat chocolate cake at 9 pm. Insanity like that only happens on a birthday...

Great day. And thanks, friends, for all your sweet greetings throughout the day. They really mean a lot!

Ad Challenge

During the Superbowl, ScrapGirls hosted an ad challenge. They posted the following print ad:
Isn't it the funniest? The Hoff. Trying to go all "Elvis" on us. For Pepsi. (Actually, if this had been an ad for Coke, I'd have been embarassed for my favorite soft drink company...)

So, we were supposed to create a digital page "inspired" by this ad. Hmmm...

I came up with something using a photo I found of my dad and I when I was only 2 years old. So fun to scrap old photos!
I created my own background paper by using some effects that Photoshop Elements offers. I used more PSE effects to "jewel" my XO type. The other digital elements I used came from ScrapGirls.

Have you scrapped an old photo lately?
