Sweet 16

It was sixteen years ago today when I went on a blind date.

It was with a tall, dark and handsome man who wanted to live off the land when he finished his college career.

He was sweet, and I definitely thought he was "cute" as we used to say. But, he was "not my type". I distinctly remember telling that to my mom after an afternoon of golfing together.

Well, I started dating that guy. And I ended up marrying that guy. And soon we will celebrate our 13 year wedding anniversary. But today I remember the day I met my wonderful husband!

So it's a perfect day to feature my recent layout of the two of us. I used My Mind's Eye papers from their "Be Loved" line and the die cut accessories. I also used American Crafts cardstock and Thickers "Cupid" chipboard letters.... I love Thickers!

The title came from a song I heard on the radio while I was driving one day. I keep a notebook in my car to jot down anything that inspires me while I'm out and about. I forgot the artist of the "1 Word 2 Say" song... anyone else know who it is? (Kristi, I fully expect you to answer this for me! :)

The heart embellishement was really fun to make. I rarely create handmade ornate embellishments, but had this idea I wanted to try. I used white tissue paper and crayola watercolors to paint it. After it dried, I cut out several hearts of different sizes. I made different designs with Stickles glitter glue and after that dried, I stacked them all together. Remembering the beaded safety pins as a kid, I glammed up a safety pin and attached the hearts together with the pin. I can't wait to try this technique with a butterfly shape this spring!

So cute. I heard that song yesterday and thought of this layout and the story. Isn't God so good that instead of allowing us to settle for boys who are our "type" He blesses us with men who are HIS type?
